Syleena Johnson – “My Shoes” (Chapter V: Underrated)

Near the close of Kanye West‘s single “All Falls Down,” he can be heard saying, “Syleena you’re like the safe belt.  You saved my life.”  He was referring to songstress Syleena Johnson, fellow Chicagoan, and voice heard singing the chorus on “All Falls Down.”  What Kanye meant was how in a last minute effort, Johnson saved the day by lending her voice to the hook after his inability to clear the Lauryn Hill sample (the chorus included elements of Hill’s song, “Mystery of Iniquity”).  That’s not Johnson’s only claim to fame.  With her own hits like “I Am Your Woman” and “Guess What” as well as musical links to artists like R. Kelly and Busta Rhymes, Johnson has put together a solid career in the ever-changing R&B scene.  In the studio preparing her fifth full-length album of new music, Chapter V: Underrated, Johnson released a track via Twitter called, “My Shoes,” in celebration of reaching 9000 Twitter followers.  Here it is below.  Listen and leave some feedback in the comment section, or reach out to Syleena at @Syleena_Johnson.
