Artist Spotlight| Elle Varner: Born To Do It| Audio

Every now and then, the music world gets the privilege of welcoming in a real artist.  Not an overnight sensation cooked up in a studio or some label exec’s office; I’m talking about someone who has taken the time to master their craft.  Someone like singer/songwriter, Elle Varner.

The child of two songwriters, Varner knows music like a second language.  She got skilled on the flute and piano at a young age, then picked up the guitar at 16.  Her rich, bluesy vocals can be heard along guitar strums on her song, “So Fly.”  Varner’s talent isn’t all a product of good genes.  She has trained with the best, being selected for the Grammy in the Schools Mentoring Program before enrolling at NYU, where she studied at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music.

Today, the college grad is signed to MBK/J records and ready to take the world by storm with her soulful lyrics and equally impressive voice.

Listen to “So Fly” and her remix of the J Cole/Miguel track called “All I Want is Him” after the jump.
